Outdoor-centric learning for K-8 students.

Homer Forest School is Homer, Alaska’s first outdoor-centric public charter school. We envision a learning environment that prioritizes community-grounded projects and rigorous academics, while minimizing screen time.

How We Started.

In February 2022, a group of community members, made up of educators and families, submitted their official intent to apply to be a public charter school in the community of Homer, Alaska. After meeting with KPBSD district leaders, the group formed committees and worked together to submit an application in October of 2022.
